    63 carb nut torque

My 63 Corvette Shop Manual shows 35-45 ft lbs for the 3/8 24 nuts for the carburator on Specifiction page 14-4.
Could this be a error? Seems to me a lot of torque on four nuts to mount a carb.

Sounds like it should be inch pounds. I always use the built in "feel meter" of my hands.

I always thought 5/16 was used on the carb studs. I never torque either, just the "feels right" method. Also, never too tight on the aluminum manifold studs. Found out the hard way many years ago.

        Jim -

That's a typo in the Shop Manual. Carb nut torque is 14-18 ft-lbs. (Assembly Manual, UPC 6, sheet B2.00, item #6).

Thanks John. I was not going to go over 20 before I decided to post and ask about what was printed in the manual.
