'69 Interior Mirror

I have a '69 convertible, my interior mirror has a black rubber frame around the glass and a flat black backing - from what I can tell it's supposed to be stainless steel/chrome backing with a grey rubber frame.

I believe my mirror may be incorrect - it's a late '69 (10/18/69) build date.

Is it possible some came with this type of interior mirror with the strike, etc.? If not, it's probably from a different year C3 or from another GM product.

I haven't gotten the AIM yet to check.

Your black mirror is likely a SERVICE replacement. The Black mirror came into being during the 1972 Model Year -- They were installed OEM on Corvettes produced beginning in late December 1971. The law requiring them (anti-glare and soft dash knobs) became effective Jan 1, 1972.

It would be hard to convince a judge that mirror is original to your car, since it didn't exist at the time your car was produced.

Now I know for sure and will add it to my list for replacement.

Thankfully they won't be as hard to get as the lap belts.
