    300HP valve cover bolt acceptance

I got dinged at the Regional NCRS meet, can anyone help with correctness of 1967, 327 ci 300HP small block valve cover bolts, is the RWB 6-sided flat head bolt acceptable for top flight judging. My indented bolts were judged to have too much paint and they said they could not read the markings on them. Thank you, Gary

    John,

67's should have a flat head not an indented head. And a flat head RBW would be correct.

Gary my 67 JM fourth edition says "Base Engine is secured with four hex-head bolts typically with a "TR" head mark"..
"RWB" may have been used but if you want to avoid an arguement I would use the "TR" bolts

        Bill -

"Typically" is the key word - my originals are RBW.

John I'm sure you are right, but ya know how some judge's are On my car if I think a part is original to the car I leave it. If I dont know I go with whats in the JM.

Thank you to all, I am going to use the RWB bolts and give the judges something to diaagree about! What do you think about this addition ding I received, front nose emblem, tightness not to factory specs? I had to force it to move almost with two hands? Next event I will just sit in my seat and smile broadly. And some people believe that the judges are not suppose to touch the car......

As a side note to this. On original 67 engines I have worked I have seen. SBC, RSC, TR, RBW and a few more. More often than not RBW wins the poll.
