    '96 Floor Mats

I'm almost done with the interior restoration of my LT4. I have a few details to care of. One of those details is floor mats. I obtained a pair of new replacement mats form GMPartsDirect. They look identical to the one (passenger side) original mat that was in the car when I bought it. However, I've noticed that the carpet pile of the new mats is like the cut pile in 91 - 94 corvettes - meaning they are not Tru-Vette. Were 95 and 96 floor mats made from Tru-Vette carpet material?

    Thanx,

    -Floyd-

Someone has to know the answer to this. Would someone with a '95 or '96 please confirm if your mats are made are of Tru-Vette carpet material?

If so, would you please post any GM part number information stamped into the rubber backing?

    Thanks in advance.

Floyd - I'm not sure what "Tru-Vette" carpet is. But here are pics of the original passenger mat from my 96 LT4.

        Thanks Pat.

That does look like Tru-Vette. i.e. that same carpet material that covers your floor pans. The carpet nap has a "corn row" pattern in it. It was unique to '95 and '96.

What Patrick has posted is exactly what I would expect. The floor mats used for 95-96 were of the same part numbers as earlier.

By the way, why weren't carpet-matching floormats used for 95-96? I don't know. However, I suspect that "compromises" had to be made to satisfy the constraints of material cost allocation. Costs saved here could better be used for improvements in other areas.

Thanx Joe. So you are saying that the carpet mat material used in '95 and '96 was NOT Tru-Vette? This would mean that the GM replacements I got from GMPartsDirect - using a normal cut pile - are a good match.

              I believe that's the case.
