    C2 Cover?

I just bought my first 'Vette! It needs some help and it'll never be a top flight (without throwing too much cash at her, of course ;-), but she's all mine. ('66 L36).

Question: Does anyone out there have an opinion about car covers for C2s? The owner sold her to me with one, but it's not all that good and I'd like to get a better one. Thanks!

    Re: C2 Cover?

The type of cover depends on how you are going to use it. I keep my cars warm and dry in a garage so I use the flannel type covers http://www.zip-corvette.com/ProductD...=SGR-SR&CTitle=&

If you need outdoor protection, you'll need a cover designed for that.

Thanks, Jim! It's purely to keep the dust off -- she's in a garage. I'll check out the flannels.

Not sure if these guys are still around or not, but this is my all time favorite cover. Bought it from them at Bloomington back in the 90's. Still have it on the 63 today. Flannel and fits like a glove.

          Andrew:

Just about everyone has their favorite. Much depends on where car is stored and what you want to spend $$$. My car has a flannel-lined cotton cover purchased many years ago from Beverly Hill Motoring in California. Primarily for garage/indoor use.

Suggest checking California Car Cover at www.calcarcover.com. They have just about any cover you could want. They have good products.

This one is also flannel and fits very good. Had one like Tom's and I liked it but when I sold that car I gave it the new owner. These covers are for indoor use only.

Andy, way to go. My opinion, drive the car as much as you can. Then you'll have no need for keeping the dust off, let the wind flowing over the car do that. In reality, use a flannel one, company, your choice. Bill

I have a very nice flannel cover I bought at Bloomington show in St Charles about 10 years ago. Again, as others have stated, it is for indoor (garage) use. However, I in turn cover that with another all weather cover to keep the flannel from getting too dusty and from collecting airborne particles, such as lint, dead bugs fron the overhead light, etc. Granted, the flannel is washable, but I have not had to do that as yet and don't want to for fear it will either shrink or loose some of it's softness. No, I don't watch the detergent ads on TV.

I have not washed mine, either, for the same reasons Stu brought up. I have thrown them in the dryer a couple of times on "fluff" to remove as much dust as possible. I did wash a parts bag on "gentle" that was years old---and it came out in shreds.

                      Re: C2 Cover?

The covers both Bill and Tom refer to come from the same shop in Kansas City. It was started as Verl's Custom Tailor and it is now carried on by his son, Paul. The original shop was a Custom Suit tailor on the Country Club Plaza area of KC. Both Verl and Paul happened to be Corvette enthusiasts, thus the evolution of such a quality car cover. I have owned one or more of these for over thirty years, and I still use the oldest one on my '64.
You can reach Paul at "Vettes Under Cover" via e-amil at becker66@gmail.com. He was at Bloomington this year, and I believe maybe also at Carlisle. The cover costs a little more, but you won't find a softer and more durable one to cover your baby with.
