I'm in contact with the seller. I'll ask him if he got paid. Its very common for those last minute bids. That's just the way ebay works. no sense in bidding early and tipping your hand. Its not like an auction house where bidding continues until they reach the max. it ends at a predetermined time. I use a sniper site myself. I prefer www.auctionsniper.com (very cheap .25 a snipe that you WIN, or 1% of the total, whichever is greater).

I never saw one that did. Batteries usually have such wide application it would be virtually impossible to list all of them on the box. This was true even in the "old days".

Although I have no experience or data regarding assembly line batteries as old as those that are the subject of this thread, I would be surprised if assembly line batteries came to the line in any kind of boxes. I would expect they were shipped/delivered on pallets. I know the Sealed Side Terminal batteries for the early C3s were so delivered, and every time I went through Bowling Green that was the same situation.

The plates in these batteries started sulfating the day they were made. The half life of that battery would be less than a house fly in Alaska.

I purchased a NOS R-89 for my '69. Lasted thru Bloomington and one regional (3 weeks apart). Next regional was my PV. Guess what died during the PV. A hard rain shower saved me. Quick trip to K Mart saved me.

I would love to see batteries taken off the judging sheets, same goes for tires, only original to car ONCE and many repops are junk and some even dangerous. my 2 cents and good luck to the person if real that paid that for a battery....wow, more money than brains, must be a BJ buyer
I know where a R-59 is that never had acid in it and I am sure owner would part with it for a mere $1000-a steal

Jorjorian & Lucia are 100% correct. This is a service replacement battery and if used on an NCRS car it would be treated as such.
Now my 63, the LWC has the real deal poc acid spewing tar top battery in it. Does have a lot of NCRS judges finger nail gouges in it though. Including CC's.

Even if you are judged with an incorrect battery,it is only minus a few points. Its not worth $1500.00 .

Nope. Production-line batteries came bare-naked in steel shipping racks, and the dead ones went back in the same rack.
