Need help with interior color for a 65

I have a nassau blue 65 Corvette I'm restoring. I'm not sure what color to paint the dash. My trim code is 451 which is white door panels and seats. Ordered my dash pads and carpet from Al Knoch which are bright blue. Now my only option to paint the dash is a medium blue or a medium dark blue. I thought the dash and dash pads were suppose to be the same color?

    Harvie,

I don't have the code handy but all 65's only had one color blue for interios which was bright blue. So the correct paint fo the dash would be a flat bright blue. Now when I restored a 65 with bright blue interior the dash paint seamed a hair darker than the pads, now whether that was the flattenr doing that I don't know but that formula was from a original dupont book and this was 20 years ago when you could still get the original tints.

Harvie -- there are two interior shades of blue on painted surfaces. The table that Jack H. has linked to shows what parts get what paint code and to what level of gloss. The paint codes on his link are for Ditzler only.

Sept 1964 Chevrolet Service News lists the Corvette codes for the two glosses (Low and Full) for Dupont and Rinshed Mason, as well as Ditzler.

Your interior will need them if you're redoing your 451 trim code's white, as well as the blues. And the blacks as well, if you're redoing the entire interior.

I also have the Dupont 1965 Interior color chips for the white (two glosses and codes are used) as well as the two blues 9223-LH Medium blue, and 9189-LH Medium Dark Blue. There is a visual difference in the latter, although I'm not sure a digital camera could capture it.

Don't expect everything to match. Blue is much like a saddle tan interior; what with the solid color vinyl components (different supplier or manufacturing process), different glosses and two slightly different painted colors, it'll look like four shade gradations throughout.
