    What am I missing here?
Apparently I never saw the first thread.
Is what you have done suppose to fine tune the way your motor operates? What little I can read of the notes also mentions reworking the fuel pump. Was this done for racing? Please clue me in.

    Karl.
Not very long after I did this in September 2008, there appeared an EXCELLENT Restorer article dealing with this very issue.
    Read it and report back.

      Joe,
I can't get anything except a darkened small screen after it loads.
It says at the top right hand corner to down load this.
      Nothing there to download.

What did you accomplish when you did that to you rotor cap?
      Karl.

        Karl,

What are you referring to when you say "it" loads?

Your question will be answered if you refer to the Restorer article about rotors and their gaps. Pre emission GM engines used rotors causing a smaller gap between them and the cap electrodes.

The short answer is that nothing was accomplished, unless there is a fault, such as a wire or wires with higher than tolerable resistance, or a spark plug with wider than normal gap. It requires energy for the current to jump the gap between the rotor and the distributor cap electrode, which results in slightly lowered energy delivered to the secondary ignition system.

You will find an EXCELLENT primer on ignition systems' energy requirements on the Lectric Limted website:

You should read that primer, together with the Restorer article for a better understanding.

        Joe
