3799629 C1 Oil Pan with Trap Door?

A fellow Michigan Chapter member purchased this part number for his '61 many years ago. I expect it is a trap door oil pan (for service) and numbered 3799629.

However, I was surprised to not find this number in the archives...

Why do you "suspect" it is a trapdoor? Won't your "friend" tell you?

He thinks that is what he bought, but it was many years ago. The pan is still on his car. I have not looked at the dimples and etc. We are about one hour apart.

      Thanks

If he has a 3789629, instead of a 3799629, that would be the correct part number shown for a 62 Corvette in a 1963 printing of the parts book.

No mention of the trap door but it does show that it's a 5 quart capacity.

While in the car you can still tell by the weld marks on the bottom of the pan. Stewy

Re: 3799629 C1 Oil Pan with Trap Door? Really a 3789629

Wow! One of the labels on the box is wrong. It's clearly stamped 3799629, but only on one end of the box.

            THANKS to all!

It pretty much has to be an error. I can find no record that GM #3799629 ever existed, at least as a SERVICE part number.
