I am looking for help in where to purchase a correct size battery for my 1960. That is one that will fit the tray and retainer. This car is a driver and I am not looking for a restoration battery. Thanks in advance.

Re: 1960 correct fit battery source
Hi Charles
I have purchased several off the shelf batteries for different cars. The biggest problem are a lot of batteries now have both top and side posts.
Most auto supply stores will have one that will fit. They can look it up as my experience is the computers do go back that far for battery replacement. I would suggest taking your top retainer with you to insure it fits the battery they suggest. Good luck.

Re: 1960 correct fit battery source
After visiting four different stores today I purchased a Delco 24F. This is the only battery I found that even came close to the retainer fitting it. The primary problem with all the other batteries is they have built in handles which are molded into the ends of the case making it difficult to put the retainer on without cutting away part of the case. The Delco has a handle which folds down into the top. It is a little small length wise but will work. It also has the poorest warranty, 18 months free replacement and pro rated to 60 months. Thanks to all for your suggestions.- Top

Re: 1960 correct fit battery source
Rick - for my 65 you saw at Granite Bay I had just bought the Delco 72 month series 24 and used a utility knife to trim the protruding plastic from the top portion of the sides. It was all covered by the carrier so it isn't noticeable. Worked out fine.
