Re: Need help identifying motor for 58
Brandon, according to my copy of "Corvette By The Numbers", that CASTING number was used in '59 - '61 models. It also noted that it was believed to have appeared in some very late '58 cars, but was not verified at the time the book was printed (2002). This may have been verified since then . The stamped numbers on the pad or casting date numbers will zero in on actual application for the block you have. Chip.- Top

Re: Need help identifying motor for 58
Brandon,
What is the cast date on this motor?
According to the final build date data for the 58 Vette....probably
the last of August ending with #109168.
If the block cast date is after August or before???? Maybe someone else would know if any of the #3756519 blocks were installed in 58 Vettes. The 58 GM # in the numbers book shows GM #3737739 . It also has a reference that maybe some early 59's might have this block.
What is the stamped number on the front boss?
Is it a Flint block or a Tonawanda block?
Only Flint blocks were used in Corvettes.
Later when big blocks came out in the mid 60's were Tonawanda
blocks used.
