    Is it ok to ask?

Is it OK to post a request to see if someone out here has a particular part that one is looking for?

I believe so. Similiar question is asking where can needed/wanted part be found? Like which parts vender sells has it?

i have asked if anyone knows where i can find a part and got an answer. they sent me a private massage. no harm. i see where this could become a problem if everyone does it though. i am pretty good at findind parts. what do you need? mgreene@crawford.com

          Hi Jack,
Although I like the idea of asking about a part on this Forum, I'd think a free advertisment in THE DRIVELINE would get a lot more 'reads' than a post here would get 'views'.
          Regards,
          Alan

PS: I'm looking for a passenger's side door plastic weather 'liner' that is installed under the door's interior trim panel.

Re: Is it ok to ask?

The only kind of liner for sale I have found is the foam "vapor/sound" barrier kind. So I just decided to get "creative" and ran new strip cock around the door, laid an oversized piece of heavy 8mil clear plastic over it (so I could see where everything was), cut out where the handles/locks were and slid the slitted plastic over the pulls/etc, pressed the edges against the strip cock then trimmed around the edges to shape. Ta-Da! instant repro that is fitted and works

              Wayne,
More explanation please? What is a strip cock?
I will need to do the same thing to my doors eventually.......and where do you buy it?
It sounds like an easy fix.......
              Thank you, Sandy

The trouble with the Driveline is that by the time the ad is posted, you'll probably have found whatever you're looking for. I submitted an ad in Aug. and it should be posted in the Nov./Dec. issue (yet to come out). I've already found the part I was looking for more than a month ago. The Driveline ad's time has come and gone. It's time to have all ads on the internet but unfortunately that will never happen.

                  Sandy -

It's called "Strip-Calk" (3M trade name), and is available under other names at Lowe's and Home Depot. Back in the day in the plants, we called it "dum-dum".

Thank you John for the explanation......I've heard of dum-dum. Nice to know what it really is.

                        What's the difference.
John H. knows that 3M doesn't know how to spell proper like.
                        It's all dum-dum to me.
And Sandy, this is a family show, ya know?

I couldn't have said it better myself.

Besides, if one ACTUALLY refers to ones CraigsList ad, one MIGHT lose some credibility.
