That picture looks like the correct fitting to me, no paint just zinc plating as it's added at St. Louis..

I agree (not painted as it was installed at St. Louis), but there's a bigger issue here... If I remember correctly there were two versions of the water pump's heater hose nipple with one version (as depicted in this thread) being used on 'standard' cars and another version with 'skinny' hex flats used for A/C equipped cars.
If I'm right, then the original post in this thread lacks sufficient configuration information for a proper answer...Comment

you are correct. The 1965 300hp is an a/c car.
I have a water pump nipple that is longer in length than the one in the
picture. Dont know if it is correct or not for the water pump.
It might be 3 inches in length.
The one in the intake is shorter in length which i believe to be

Here's some water pump nipples from a 65, freshly replated in cad. Think it was from a higher HP 65 and not sure about the AC. Maybe Joe will pipe in.

Yes, it looks right to me. The nipple on the right is a GM #3736495. This nipple was used for all 1963-67 Corvettes without C-60 at the waterpump heater hose fitting.
The fitting on the left looks like a GM #3829819. This fitting was used for most 63-67 Corvettes with small block and external bypass type water pumps. It, of course, occupied the upper bypass hose position on the waterpump.In Appreciation of John HinckleyComment
