Need Part Number for BB Valve Guides

I'm still in the process of getting rid of the hot rod parts in my 3873858 heads for a L-72 (427 / 425). I'm looking for the GM part # for the valve guides, both intake and exhaust.

    Thanks,
    Joe

Cheverolet cast iron heads have "integral" valve guides. Chevrolet's service replacement was a valve with an oversized stem and a suitable sized reamer.

If you want to actually "replace" the valve guides, you have to go to an aftermarket solution.

As far as I know, GM never offered a replacement valve guide in SERVICE for big block cylinder heads. Instead, they offered valves with oversize stems. Worn guides could then be reamed out and an oversize stem valve used for replacement.

Replacement valve guides are easily available in the aftermarket, though, both thick wall and thin wall, cast iron and brass.

GM drilled the holes in the guides AFTER they were installed in the heads so the bore was not always in the center of the guide and after market guide the bore is concentric with the OD and you will find that the valve seat in the head can be way off center when you use new guides. the best bet is to bore and sleeve the original GM guide to prevent this problem
