Re: 78 Pace Car Market Value?

Thanks everyone! There's some excellent information here that I'm forwarding on to my friend. Nice article Tom.
BTW - I'm trying to expand his interest from Camaro enthusiast to include Corvettes. Maybe, just maybe...

The seller is asking $11K which is in line with the price range mentioned by others here. A footnote to that, the seller "must sell" this car.

11K sounds pretty nice. My buddy purchased an L82 4 speed with 17K last year for 21K. Car even rode on its original GT radials. Paint was a mess, as may be expected...crazing, chips, thin in spots.

I'd pay the 11 and have a blast with the car.

            Jeff,
Just a comment about your assumtion that the Pace Car, and the Silver Anniversary Edition having the same two tone paint. These were two entirely different paint schemes, although both of them were two tone. The Silver anniversary looks nothing like the pace car. The pace cars all had the same interior (although ther was a cloth and leather version). The Silver Anniversay was available in a varity of interior color combinations.
Just thought I would throw that out there.

Additionally, out of 40K Corvettes made that year, over 15K of them had the Silver Anniversary paint (seems like a lot). I assume that would be the same 2-tone paint that the PC's had.
Jeff, it wasn't at least one, it was ONLY one.
I likewise was pursuing the purchase of a '78 pace car, back in '78.
Every Chevrolet dealer was only allowed to order one car. Some were able to dealer trade for a second or third car.

Correct me if I am wrong..but didn't the silver anniversary cars have the older style 1977 flat seats and only the Pace Cars had the new style seats in 1978?

You are correct Joe. We ordered my SA with Oyster cloth and leather.

When early info. on the PC was released there were pictures of the PC with the SA paint scheme instead of the black/silver. There were also later pics. of the black/silver PC with the raised white letter Good Years with CORVETTE on them. Those didn't make it to production. I have the pics. around here somewhere and will post if I can find them.
