I may have gotten the answer I was looking for when I searched the archives. I bought new AC filters, A824C, trying to stay with AC parts. They would not fit the car. I see why the previous owner had Fram's in the car. (Orange! yuck) I ended up getting Purolator's. I think its sad that parts these days simply do not match up or fit. What will happen down the road when we have Corvettes, and other classic cars, made up of these junk parts? Why can't manufacturer's make quality replacement parts? You would think AC Delco parts would be the best, guess I'll have to re-think that.
I posted earlier about the speedometer being off 5 mph on my '82 Collector's Edition. While performing maintenance and cleaning underneath the car, I found out the transmision has been replaced. It's all blue and has "Good" marked on it, doubt this was original. Were these 700R4's also put in other vehicles? Could that be why the speedo is off, because of a different gear, as someone informed me earlier on here? Is that an easy fix? Also, would it behoove me to upgrade to 51mm throttle bodies? There are some on Ebay that you exchange yours for his. This guy claims they improve performance and gets rid of the rough idle. They also talk about the balance ports and how they can be balanced with common tools. Who has done this and was it worth the $220? Thanks in advance.
