I have a that I am looking at 66 300 hp,/fact a/c,p.s.,p.b. and the stamp pad reads FOIO 3 HP?? Everything I can find on this it should be L79 350h.p. engine. The valve covers are painted and have 300hp decals. Is it a 350 with the wrong valve covers? Or am I misssing something? Thanks Tom #41491

Jim
How did you come up with that? I am very curious!I looked in my NCRS spec guide before posting and I came up with L79 350 hp. It is on page 67.HP IS a/c p/s and 4 speed. My corvette black booksays the same. Please advise. Thanks in advance Tom Stanton- Top

Re: Stamp pad help
The 1966 327/350hp with PS should have a HP code. The same 327/350 without PS should have a HT code. Sometimes Power Steering got added later and can ad to the confusion.
The 300hp motor should have a 5500 redline and the 350hp should have a 6000 redline.
The 1966 327/300 with powerglide and A.I.R. has a HR code. Is it possible that the P was in fact a R ?

My corvette black book says HP is 350hp mt ps and a/c. This is 2002 black book. Maybe a misprint? My NCRS says L79. I am really confused, so any help will be greatly appreciated. I really want this car if it is correct. Thanks Again Tom- Top

Re: Stamp pad help
From page 19 of the April 65 Technical Service Bulletin, the Chevrolet Central Office Technical Service Department says the suffix HP is an 1965 L75 (300hp not base) Corvette with a Powerglide.
This is a good example that it is not safe to ASSUME that a suffix carries over form one year to another (or body style) as the same spec as it was in a previous year, although some do.Attached FilesLast edited by Dan A.; October 14, 2009, 02:06 PM.- Top
