radiator core support c2 with auto trans

I installed a new radiator core support in a
1965 a while back and the vette is a automatic trans
with a cooler. I order a transmission cooler mounting kit which included
    bolts nuts and anchors.
When i installed the anchors today they were loose and then when i
put the bolt in it just spun around and would not tighten up.
So i got the air gun out and pushed hard on the bolt
and it would not tighten up, it did some but not flush with core support and cooler bracket, then it broke off the head of the anchor
and spent 45 min removing it from core support. Now i need to order
    the anchors again.
How do you get it in and not spin and tighten up the cooler without
    breaking the anchor.
    thanks BILL

    Bill,
I think the anchors are "pressed" or "swaged " into the support. I know LICS offers a rental on the tool needed, others may also.

      Bill -

Those are Rivnuts. Steel ones (as used in production) require a special tool to install, but aluminum ones don't. McMaster-Carr and other industrial supply houses have the aluminum Rivnuts. Send me an e-mail (click on my username) and I'll describe how to install the aluminum Rivnuts without special tools.
