I have two non-original and non-OEM options added to my car and am wondering how damaging they are in flight judging. One is a Vintage Air system added to a non-A/C car (probably doesn't matter) and the other is an auxillary electric cooling fan mounted behind the radiator, between the original fan and the radiator. In looking at the judging manual it would imply a 100% deduction for orignality and condition taken against the A/C section, but I am not sure what the electric fan does to deductions. Any ideas? Thanks.

Re: NCRS Judging, non-original options
Hi Michael,
If the Vintage Air system was installed in a factory air car in place of inoperative or missing A/C components (not your case), then you would loose all of the A/C-related points relating to the non-factory components.
Hope this helps!

Re: NCRS Judging, non-original options
I've added many options and accessories to my 55 Corvette . Being judged at a National I was told it dint matter only if you had to modify the body did it count like drilling an extra hole . So with my many accessories I did lose a few points because I did drill some holes to install them, which was not much and I still got a top flight .- Top

Re: NCRS Judging, non-original options
Thanks for the info and help guys. This straightens it out and it makes sense now when I read the manual. Guess I will probably keep the A/C and aux. fan and concentrate on fixing things that are not working (voltage gauge, emergency brake light, and washer pump) or need replacing (like the T-3s, battery and tires). Since the car is a frame-off restoration and fully numbers matching with docs maybe the few deducts for the A/C and fan will not be a killer.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: NCRS Judging, non-original options
Michael,
I am planning to have my '65 Corvette judged in the future and I will be leaving the GM dealer installed luggage rack installed on the car. It will take an originality hit in the body and paint section, probably no more than 2 to 3 points in each section. I am currently trying to find a Chevrolet dealer accessory options sheet showing that the luggage rack was avialable in 1965 for a Corvette coupe as proof during judging, no luck so far.
Best Regards,

Even if you find proof it will make no difference. Cars are judged as delivered, minus dealer or owner added options.- Top

Re: NCRS Judging, non-original options
After re-reading your post regarding non-functioning items on your car. You will lose points fast in the Operations sections, be sure that everything works as described. At 25 points per line item, you can/will go down in flames quick. The three non funtioning items that you mentioned are a quick 75 points in the Ops section. This is were some cars that are getting judged for the first time get hit hard.Last edited by James W.; October 15, 2009, 03:23 PM.- Top
