Re: Need C1 leaf spring banding tool
Corvette Central used to rent them back in the early 90's. You needed to leave them a couple hundred $$ deposit, which was refunded on it's safe return. The rent was about $15 a week. Problem was... nobody returned them. Must have been a hot item. PT- Top

Re: Need C1 leaf spring banding tool
Thanks Pat & Pat .. but, I just had my springs to Eaton Springs and they can assemble but could not guarantee that the clips would be crimped properly. I also checked with Crovette Central but they no longer rent the Signode tool.- Top

Re: Need C1 leaf spring banding tool
I looked up companies in St Louis (my location) in the Yellow Pages that sell the Signode banding tools and materials. They are used by a lot of businesses that ship product. This was several years ago. Now you could do a Google search for your town. I asked if I could bring some springs from an old Corvette by their location and get the bands tightened and crimped. They were more than happy to help and wanted to talk about old cars when I got there. You might try finding a local source. It only takes about five minutes to clamp the straps with the tool.- Top

Re: Need C1 leaf spring banding tool
I was a friends shop questioning him on how he re-lined the springs on his 59. He showed me a tool from Signode, but had to slightly modify the crimping end to do the job. The same tool is used for banding material, (the metal bands on products). The only thing you need to verify is the width of the banding tool to accommodate the crimp- Top
