    1969 Starter spec # question

My 69 starter has a stamping # 110835 1116 4. The judging manual shows fewer digits for the original as 1108351 (427 engine) is this correct but a repro ?

The 1108351 starter was only used in the M22 transmission applications.(Typically this was L88 and L89) You should see the part number,a single digitfor the year,a single letter for the month(A-M,excluning I),and a single or double digit for the day.Sometimes there is a space and another digit for the production line(1-8) A "typical" original stamping would be configured like this "1108351 8H21 6" DELCO REMY U.S.A. should appear underneath the number sequence. There is no evidence of a DELCO MCKINNON starter(made in Canada) ever appearing on a Corvette. Is there a chance that your starter case stamping could have been misread(due to dirt, rust, paint defacing, etc)?
