    1966 427 425 3247 carb date?

I noticed that my 3247 carb does not have the proper date. It appears to be a 4 digit service date carb. of 2842. I assume this is a service carb. from 1972 or 82? Will this receive point deductions when judging?

What is a service carb anyway?

    Thanks
    BJ

    Barry----

Yes, it will very likely receive a deduction in judging.

A SERVICE carburetor is one sold over-the-counter for replacement purposes. It may or may not be of the original part number and it may or may not be configured exactly as-original. It's purpose is to provide a fully functional replacement---not judging points for every nuance of detail.

Yes, it will - 20% of the allocated originality points, for the date (8 points).

          Barry -

A carb is judged based on five axes of originality - Finish, Date, Installation, Configuration, and Completeness; each axis is allocated 20% of the 40 points. The extent to which the carb meets the standard for each axis determines the deduction, if any.
