    brake overhaul for a 1961

I just bought a 1961 and the brakes look like they have been there for a while. The car sat pretty much since 1986. Even the MC is dry! The shoes look okay so I'm going to replace the brakes hoses and the wheel cylinders.

Where do you straight axle folks buy your parts? (This is my first straight axle car so I need all the help I can get!)

    Thanks
    Jerry

      Jerry,

As a C-1 owner, you'll get to know Mary Jo quite well. Most of what she sells now is thru e-bay; give her a call and she'll know where you can find it. She used to have her catalog available for download, but she's changed her site toward e-bay that I have no clue where it is any more.
She's one of the few that still has "real" parts.
Grossmueller's is another spot for C-1 parts.

      Good luck!

      Don

NAPA is always my first and usually my only phone call. They have an amazing number of parts to keep our old cars operating.

If you go for new wheel cylinders I used O'Rielly's but they could not get one for the left rear. Neither could the other places, so I rebuilt that one. Not sure why the new in the box left rear would not fit. They all had bad castings that day. Label them when you take them in and make sure the casting will drop into the slot on the brake backing plate.
