New 66 wheel covers on eBay

The seller is denniscarpenter3, who I remember from my Thunderbird days. Anyway, he has new 66 wheelcovers for sale for a starting bid of $250 for four. He doesn't specifically say they're NOS but he says they're new and have been sitting on a shelf for years. No spinners included.

This seems like a heck of a deal to me. Last time there were no bidders. Anyone know anything about them?

Chevrolet Parts offered them for years as replacements for the other years. My guess there those.

That is a real GM cap. However it was made many years after the original production caps.
About 12 years ago I needed one cap for my 66 - it was damaged.
Found a set of 4 of these caps in the same boxes as the one shown there.
only used one and put the other 3 away. (still have them)

Once the cap is installed you really can't tell the difference, but anytime I mess with the wheels - I can always tell which one is that later cap.

They are not the same as the production caps - they are a little lighter in weight, and the metal is a little thinner. (don't install as easy)
also originally these later ones came with a center cap similar to the one used on the 67. Spinners were not used after 67.

At the time I think I paid $200 for the whole set - thought that was really expensive. LOL
