    67 Power brake question

My big block coupe has the reinforcement for the power brake booster on the firewall and it has factory rivets holding it. I want to install a booster but the two 3/8 studs are coming through the firewall that are part of the brake petal bracket. my question is, i though that if the reinforcement bracket was on the firewall that it came with power brakes. can anyone clarify for me? Did all 67s come with the reinforcements installed and only some get the booster? I'm trying to find out if the car came with power brakes or not. Thanks

    Dan -

That riveted-on upper nut plate was only installed on power brake cars, and they also got a unique pedal support bracket with open holes in the bottom (for the two threaded studs that were part of the booster); the non-power brake pedal support had two pressed-in splined threaded studs in the bottom two holes that protruded through the firewall to attach the master cylinder nuts to.

It's possible (but unlikely) that the upper nut plate was installed in error and just left there rather than being removed and the holes filled.

I agree. I've seen two pretty much untouched cars over the years that had the reinforcement riveted in place but did not have power brakes or any of the other necessary items that would have been with PB.
