    St.Louis Corvette Plant

    Checkout the railcar loader!

Looks like two Corvettes in the parking lot.

The newest model I can identify in the parking lot looks like a 59 Chevy. I'd guess the picture is from late 58 or 59. Am I close?

              Great photo Joe!

Hmmm, All of them are facing the same direction. Employees typically park head to head? Maybe "company" cars?

I do see what I think are 2 Corvettes there. From the left side, second row, 2nd and 3rd car. Maybe?

Very cool picture. Where did you find it ? Richard is right . Two of them parked next to an Oldsmobile.

                  Re: St.Louis Corvette Plant

Ok, how many cars can you identify. Here's my stab at it:
The Oldsmobile is either a 56 or 57 right?
That looks like a 57 Chevy behind the Olds.
Directly in front of the Olds is a 59 Chevy.
The two Corvette's next to the Olds are tough to deduce but the one next to the Olds appears to have 4 headlights (58 or later) and the one next to it appears to have two headlights (57 or 56).
In front of the 59 Chevy appears to be a 57 Buick.
Next to the Buick (partially obscured by a pole) appears to be a Corvair... I think.
Is that a 60 Chevy next to the Corvair?
In front of the Buick is a 55 Chevy
In front of the 55 Chevy (partially obscured by the crane) is a 58 Chevy

I don't know why but I really like doing this!

                  Cheers,

Good eyes Michael......I know, this is fun.

I played around with Irfanview a bit and came up with this. I dunno but I think both Corvettes have quad headlights. Grille openings appear equal too.

Hmmmm, but now another look, maybe both are 56-7's. I don't see big wraparound front bumpers.

This photo was a gift to me by the owner of the St.Louis Corvette Plant. Just one of many that were taken by a local professional photographer hired to photograph construction improvements at the plant.

Eventually the plant was raized by a salvage company.

During a route 66 drive from California...members of the original SACE club met at the Plant and during a chance to search the plant many little parts and artifacts were found which they were allowed to keep. That day several plant supervisors and line workers were there to talk about the making of Corvettes. Noland and Roy were there too.

                      It was quite a day.

                        Hi Joe,
Thanks very much for posting an interesting picture.
It's amazing how folks can identify a model year by just a small piece of trim or a minor styling change. We knew that by heart for almost all cars back then. Now I have a very difficult time telling (or caring) what year a particular car is.
                        Thanks again!
                        Regards,
                        Alan

What's in the third row from the right, fourth car from the fence. Looks like an early 50's Buick or Pontiac (Actually with my eyes it looks like a '50 Ford).

Did you notice that they are parked very close together and fairly neatly, like they are in storage? It also appears that there are no lines in the parking lot, but it's hard to tell.

You must have REALLY been studying that photo to pick out the two Vettes. Good eyes!! But I agree, I think you got it right. I see them too.
