    Drooping doors....

My doors are not closing properly. Is this a big job to correct? If this is done, will it involve unscrewing the hinges? The bolts on the hinges are in body color (white) so they'll have to be repainted?

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Drooping doors....

    Eryck,

welcome to the site and congrdulations on the car!!

Drooping/hanging doors on a mid year coupe could have a few different origins. First and simplest is the bolts from the hinge to the door (12 on each door) need to be loosend and the door readjusted up. IF YOU DECIDE TO DO THIS ONLY LOOSEN 1 HINGE AT A TIME. Otherwise you can have a real hard time getting your alignment back. If this fixes it you won't have to disturb the white painted bolts in the door jamb. Second most common cause is worn bushings. To test for this open the door part way and lift on the bottom rear corner. If there is excessive play up and down you'll have to remove the doors and hinges to repair the bushings and yes disturb the white painted bolts in the jambs.
If you have to replace the bushing post again and I'm sure some one will list a set of steps to go by.
