1953 Powerglide Trnsmission

I have been searching for a '53 Poweglide trans, it can be a passenger car transmission. Any ideas of junkyards that you know might have one ? Thanks,

Try Fatco Transmissions. Their listed in Hemmings. Last time I called they had some passenger car cores.

Be sure it's 53 up not 52 down because the 53 up shifts from low to drive when in drive, the early PG dont.

i had to have my 57 powerglide rebuilt by fatsco after two failed attempts by the local tranny guru. their rebuild completely satisfys me and the 57 vette. they are a tad expensive though.mike

Maybe.

I was wandering through an old junk yard in Athens, AL a few months ago. In the very back of the yard is a 53 or 54 Chevy. I can't tell the difference between them.

Car still has the 6 cylinder engine and powerglide trans in it.

You might want to call them and see exactly what it is.
