Re: Can anyone identify this Famous Corvette?
According to one of the GM stylist it started life as a early 56 that was kind of moved around styling and then started to be named the SS. When the Racing SS was being built the 56 evolved into the 57 Super Sport. When I looked at and under the car I saw no evidence of limited slip diff (Lyeth or Dana) or HD brakes @ suspension. The car was a low mileage time capsule in very good shape except for the left front damage. By memory I believe the owner said that the car was wrecked during a street drag race.

Re: Can anyone identify this Famous Corvette?
I discovered this website a while ago. It appears to have come from Noland Adams' book, Corvette, American Legend, 1957 Fuel Injection / 283 V-8 , and notes such at the end of the article.
BTW, this is a great book.

Re: Can anyone identify this Famous Corvette?
Is this the Corvette that was wrecked street racing on Eubank blvd in Albuquerque N.M.? I think it was owned by Bill Hall or his father? If it is the one, I was away at College but heard about it. It was then owned by William Hovey who I worked with for many years. He sold it to someone to repair. I was invited to look at it many times but I was into Blown Oldsmobiles. I would like to know if it is the same car or if not which one was the one wrecked here in Albuquerque. I think Bill hovey told me he had written a book about it. Dale- Top

Re: Can anyone identify this Famous Corvette?
John, Thank you. I printed the pictures out and I am going to show them to Bob Davalos, who drove the car up Central Ave from Davalos Chevron to Eubank and back when Larry Poole arrived in Albuq. from Chicago. I also will show them to Larry Poole. I will get more information on what Ralph Poole Auto sales sold the SS for. The figure I gave you was incorrect as my hearing is not real good after 42 years of Drag Racing. I am working on getting a copy of the article and picture that was in the Albuquerque newspaper.
