    Very Late 1969 Production

Anyone own a very late 1969 production car? Within the last 100 serial numbers?

Or is that too rare to expect to casually find? I'm not sure what the survival rate is on these cars.

How many would be expected to survive past the 18th to final produced?

I'm trying to nail down some anomolies with very late production and finding similar last day production cars may be difficult.

Getting down to the last 20 or so may get into the realm of "anything's possible" with part usage, during the final few hours, but finding one that survived well enough to document original part usage seems close to impossible.

    John:

Good question. Probably an impossible one to answer, however............. I had some spare time and ran an Ohio search on the last 20 cars. I ran the VINS in coupe and convertible configuration.

I came up with two 69's in the last 20 units of production. One coupe and one convertible.

I assume the coupe I found was yours. The other was a convertible. VIN # 194679S738755 10 cars from yours I believe. It was titled in Franklin County, Ohio in 2005 which I believe is the Columbus area.

Title status is active, so the car probably still exists. Can't get any more info than that, but there is one out there not far from us. Maybe you can find it. Happy hunting !! I will PM you the title inquiry.

      Very interesting, thanks Tom.

Now to assume that this car might have survived well enough to be able to determine original component usage is the million to one shot.

      But one worth taking.

Hey Tom -- any more time on your hands ? . [just kidding]

I've been keeping a list of the last '65's for about 20 years, and so far have identified (with help from other varied sources) 15 out of the last 52 VIN #'s.

A cold search similar to what you have done on the '69's might turn up another or two.

EMail me. Address is in my profile I have a friend and fellow NCRS member who has a VERY late 69 roadster....427 390 HP....4 speed.....Riverside Gold/Black Vinyl.

He left Maryland a couple of years before me and retired to the Ft. Myers, Florida area.

NICE old car. Can't remember the VIN, but it has many parts with 1970 style dates, i.e. rear end housing, etc.

Thanks guys, trying to determine 1970 parts mingled in with last day production.
