I'm trying to put the top trim piece on my 70 and am having fits getting it to fit. The clips are new but I get a gap of at least 1/8" on the bottom side against the windshield. Are the tabs on the trim supposed to be bent down some to "drop into" the clip? The tabs on the trim strip on mine are about at a right angle to the face.

Re: Windshield upper trim problems
The windshield is new but as they set the windshield I put the side trim up, as it is fixed at its height, and it lined up perfect. I was wondering if maybe the tabs had been bent out when it was originally taken off. Not knowing what the tabs look like originally I was wondering about their angle, they appear to point straight back which i assume looks fine. one side clicks down good but the other side just wont sit down.- Top

Re: Windshield upper trim problems
Wayne,
If the problem side is not engaging (clicking) to the retaining clip, try to elevate the clip tab outward slightly. If it is engaging and is still too far away from the glass, then it is as Bill described. The glass is set too deep in the socket.- Top

Re: Windshield upper trim problems
Hi Wayne,
Just a thought.... are you putting the long thin piece of header trim on before the 2 a-pillar pieces? If not it might be tipped out at each end preventing a snug fit at the glass. If one side is good it probably isn't the case but I thought I better ask.
I did bend the tabs slightly to tip the front edge of the trim piece tight against the glass as you mention.
