The assembly manual I have for 1956 and 1957 Corvettes locates the clutch tower on the frame from the center of a gage hole. Can anyone tell me which hole on the front of the frame is the gage hole? If I have my ducks in a row, hopefully this page from the assembly manual will attach to this thread. Thanks in advance! Brooks Glover (2141)

Re: Location of Clutch Tower on C-1 Frame
Jim, there is a hole that is not threaded between the threaded holes that mount the front sway bar to the frame. This is one possiblilty. There is also a plate on the side of the frame in the front that is held in place by rivits. Depending on where the clutch tower is supposed to be, one of these rivits could possibly be the gage hole. I am hoping that someone on this list knows for sure.- Top

Re: Location of Clutch Tower on C-1 Frame
The pivot ball on my tower is 28-3/8 inches behind the non-threaded hole; measured with a tape measure from center of pivot ball to center of gage hole.- Top

Re: Location of Clutch Tower on C-1 Frame
Guys, thanks for the responses. I looked in the ST-12 service guide for C-1 Corvettes as Ed McComas suggested and in the section on frames on page 2-2 is a diagram of the frame. It shows the gauge holes and dimensions for body mount locations. The gauge holes I was interested in are the holes I suspected between the threaded holes that bolt the front sway bar in place. This information along with the info in the assembly manual gives the location of the clutch tower on the C-1 frame. I hope this information will be useful for others working on C-1 frames. Thanks again! Brooks Glover (2141)- Top
