61 Fuel Injection Question

Hi Guys,

I am restoring a 61 Fuel Injected car back to it's original configuration. The original unit was removed many years ago and replaced with a carb. I have had the F.I. unit rebuilt and it is now sitting back on the motor where it belongs. My questions are these.

1) There is a cable the goes from the Tach. to Dist. that looks like it should have a sheath or some kind of cover over it. Is that right?

2) Do the single Carb and Fuelie cars use the same basic Accelerator Linkage? I need a new rod and was curious if they are the same.

If I need these two parts any recommendations on where to get them?

Yes, there is a housing for the FI drive cable, available from most of the reproduction houses. The arm that comes up from the firewall is standard, but the rod that goes foreward to the arm on the airmeter is a special short unit, and again reproductions are available.

Also, the drive cable came in a couple different lengths that were very close, dependent on year. You will want to be sure you get the corect length cable housing for the cable you have or you will risk it failing down the road. I'm not sure of the exact specification, but it exists in the archives, or someone else can chime it in.

The tach cable should have the gray vinyl sheath like the speedometer. Rich

Jack. Item 2) The accelerator rod you need is unique to FI. There are two on the market although only one is correct.
Paul Mazut has a really nice 58 to 62 accelerator rod. The threaded end is 1/4-36. I believe he has it stamped also with a logo. Think it's "M".

Paul is an NCRS member in the New England states. He makes a lot of nice parts.
