    1990 ZR-1 Wheel Decals

I am looking for a source, for the, "Break the bead of the tire between the black arrows", decals. I need 4 for the initial judging of a 1990 ZR-1 with 1,600 miles. Need before October 25, for Chapter Judging in So. Cal.

        Re: 1990 ZR-1 Wheel Decals

I have done some heavy investigation and found the following regarding the LTPWS decals on all the the years, 1990 to 1993:

1990-1992 all four wheels had decals part number 10074342.

1992-1993 front wheels last three part numbers were 847, and had a number (1) on the right side of the decal. The rear wheels last three part numbers were 848, and had a number (2) on the right side of the decal.

The 90-91 JM does not indicate a part number for any of the decals. The 92-93 JM indicates the part numbers for both front and rear rims.

Which leaves me with a more difficult search for a GM part number that is out of stock.

I do not know which part number is available through Corvette Central. I do know that Mid-America has the 92-93 decals, but not the 90-91. I will keep looking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As far as I can tell, the GM #10074342 was used for 1989-1990 for all 4 wheels for, at least, L98 with tire pressure sensing system. They were also used for ZR1 front wheels. However, I do not know, for sure, if they were used for 1990 ZR1 REAR wheels, or not, but I fully expect they were. If any other part was used for 1990 ZR1 rear wheels, it was never published or available from GM.

The GM #10074342 was discontinued in August, 1990 and replaced by GM #10180847 for 89-90 SERVICE. Since the 10074342 was discontinued from SERVICE in August, 1990, I HIGHLY doubt that they were used in PRODUCTION for 1991-92. It's not beyond the realm of possibility, but I HIGHLY doubt it and GM says it was not.

For 1991-96, the GM #10180847 was used for the front wheels and the GM #10180848 was used for the rear wheels. By the way, in case you're wondering, I do not think this part number was used for 1990 rear wheels, mainly because I don't think this part even existed at that time.

All of the above were applicable to all Corvette applications with UJ6, whether L98, LT1, LT4, or ZR1.

The GM #10180847 and 10180848 remain available from GM to this very day (for about 18 bucks each, GM list). As I previously mentioned, the 10074342 was discontinued in August, 1990.

Could there have been deviations from the above-referenced applications? Yes, there could have been, but this is what GM says was the way it was done. Personally, I have not made an empirical-based study of these labels and I have no plans to do so.

Ed - the picture that accompanies the CC part number I mentioned shows GM part number 10180847, and shows it to be for 91-96. For some reason I can't attach a link to show you.

Edit: I looked at four I ordered from CC and they sent two 847s with "1" on them and two 848s with "2" on them, so they carry both as well, although I know that doesn't help you.

Since the wheel decal is judged as part of the wheel and not a separate line item, it is probably not worth $68 plus shipping for a current replacement part. All four road wheels have 12 originality points and 11 condition points.

However, by having the current replacement part you would eliminate the risk of losing an allocation of condition points that a judge may assess.
