Sorry Noel, we have already exceeded my experience with Corvette wiring. I have some experience with Chevelle wiring (more than I would like) but that was many many sleeps ago, and those were driver cars back in the day -- so correct color wires were not an issue. I found spare wiring harnesses in the salvage yards -- of course we didn't call them that in those days.

Maybe someone on this board has changed their engine compartment wire harness and has the original laying around and is willing to part with it. Of course the other option is to purchase a whole new harness -- and no doubt LL's position on selling parts of the harness is directed at moving you in that direction.

FL's are available from your FLAPS. As Terry mentioned, they come in different sizes and those are typically dictated by the wire gauge of the branch circuit they're installed on.

As far as matching color and/or EXACT configuration, that's probably NOT going to happen when you buy replacement(s) from either your FLAPS or through GM. Things change over time from a technology basis and for FL's that typically winds up dictating minor differences in the outer insulation of the FL, it's exact geometry and/or terminating connector.

If you want an EXACT match for your harness, it's most likely you'll have to go 'shopping' at a scrap yard to find a donor car from that era. BUT, beware!

These pieces DO age with time/use (cumulative current flow/prior heating). In my opinion, that's especially true about the main FL near the starter. For Covette, this part lives in a 'nasty' environment seeing heat soak from the adjacent engine block and exhaust manifold as do the starter and solenoid... This might be a case where you want to forget about factory originality/authenticity!

I have been able to get this fixed. As far as I can tell the issue was limited to the 20 ga / oraneg FL's in the engine compartment noted in the post. Could not find the 20 ga wire in the correct orange so had to use black. Spliced in the connections, crimped and soldered them. Now whats lefet is to get those hard, cylindrical insulators back on and secured which may end up being the hardest part of the job.

Thanks againg for all the help guys
