    Exaust pipe/muffler coatings

What have you guys used to prevent rust on the exaust pipes and mufflers. I thought I read somewhere that they came out with a ceramic slear coating that would not yellow like VHT High-Temp Clear??

    Thanks in advance, Rich

If they came with any sort of "clear coating" (and, I am virtually certain they DID NOT), it did not last very long for either PRODUCTION or SERVICE pieces. Rusting starts almost immediately.

Rich, I Googled "clear ceramic coatings" and "ceramic coatings" and found a few that list clear. I have Jet Hot on the inside and outside of my headers (a chrome-like "sterling" color) and it holds up extremely well. If you are going for judging I assume you want a non-gloss clear.

Joe, Thanks yea I know they werent coated I am just looking to cheat to preserve the level of restoration when done.

Seve Thanks, I will look into them I was hoping that someone had used it before and could confirm they did not yellow. I have used Jet-Hot and Air Born coatings in the past to do a set of real 67 L-88 headers and pipes. But they had no clears at the time.

Rich, maybe MasterBond? They custom mix.

          Good Luck!
