    53-55 poorly fitting seats WHY????

Why do I see many listed Corvettes for sale on e-bay being said to be Professionally restored 100% to NCRS standers and asking 100K or more having such poor fitting seats.
If correctly restored back cushion (see mine) you should not be able to put your hand between the top cushion and soft top lid. Are repro cushion frames that poorly repro'ed or the repro covers that bad fitting .The red and blue Corvettes seen here are asking more then 100K.

Roy, the back rests on these seem to be "cut off" just after they quit going verticle. Yours, and my '57, extend back a number of inches to cover that void. Even the seats in your pictures that are moved forward on their tracks seem to not have anything extending back at the top.

You are correct, alot of the seats look like that.

No it's moved back so I have more leg room , but even forward it's coverd because the to area is flat so to keep it tight. Original seats will have a mark on them from the soft top lid resting on them.

I wonder how many Vette people know that the "53-55" Vette
passenger seat doesn't have a frame under it?
It's non-adjusting and is fastened directly to the floor with holding clips. Cushions are easily removeable.
Only the dirvers seat has an adjustible frame under it.

        Karl.

(I have to add....The drivers seat should adjust another 6 inches
        or so us big guys!)

People back in the 40-50"S were not as large or tall as many people are today so most average people could fit comfortless . Mother to day give their kids to much milk and candy so kids are larger and as they grow up a cool BUD and DONUTS do the rest.

on two 55 i have the driver's side seat has a longer extension on the back then the passenger side. i have seen many cars with this combination. an example can be seen by going to 1955 corvette for sale, page #3, 1955 corvette Fl. picture #24 will show the two seats.

Yes all 53-55 driver seat has a longer extension back so you can move forward or back and keep the gap closed
