soda blasting price? what did some of you pay?

Was curious so I'll know whats a good deal and whats not.

this is actually for my 87 silverado, I'm wanting to get it soda blasted and painted.

Was just curious what the soda blasting is going to cost and what it cost on your vettes, obviously size has a lot to do with it so your vette and my truck will be different but just wanting ballpark what to expect.

    thanks

      Brandon,

I haven't had it done (yet) but a local shop charges around $750 for this service. Things in my area tend to cost a little more than in other areas. Of course it might be more or less in your area but I'd expect it to be under 1k all over.

I was quoted $900...so I'll keep looking based on what u was quoted.

thanks! this is why I needed some quotes to compare to.

Why are having it soda blasted? Your 87 is a nice truck, but it's still just a truck. Scuff it and shoot. The 95 below has bc/cc over the original paint, and it's buffed nicely. If I ever paint it again, I'll either strip it chemically or with some non-silica blast media that I can use in my blaster. But soda is not necessary.

Mine was repainted by GM in 91 under clear coat recall.

I think they just scuffed it, I would feel better instead of having 3 coats of paint to just start fresh I think it would last a lot longer and have a better chance of the primer not turning loose.

I'm more picky with it than my corvettes...HONESTLY!

I paid $1200, but he came and got the car at my house and then dropped it back off. Make sure you use someone who knows what they are doing. I have heard some bad stories!

freindly word of advice, make sure they remove ALL the media in any cracks. The media is hydroscopic and tends to attract moisture overtime.

Made this mistake a few years back with a mustang-rust straterd where the media was not removed well. Good news is it was only a mustang

I was really afraid of that. I read tons of info on it before I even chose someone. My painter has worked with this guy for yrs and they powerwashed the whole car inside out with this chemical that neutralizes it. I forgot the name of the stuff. We then blew the whole car out again.
I should be ok. Thanks for looking out!

as long as they know what they are doing it should not be a problem- I learned the hard way-good luck
