I installed a exhaust system on a 71 lt1. The muffler to tire on the left side is 3/4 in. right side is 1 in. Seems to close. The exhaust system is a welded original style from Paragon. Can anyone tell me what the correct clearance should be? Could the pipes be bent by a muffler shop? Thanks Bob

Re: Tire to muffler clearance
Bob:
How do the pipes hang from the hangers. Are the hangers canted? They should be verticle. You can get some slight movement by pushing on the pipes in the appropriate spot. You can also slightly bend the pipes out of the car, but you have to be vary careful not to kink them. You don't need to move them very far to increase your clearance. You probably only need to open up the last two bends just a hair.

Re: Tire to muffler clearance
The muffler hangers are pushed in( towards the center of the car) to center the extension tips. Being that they are welded there is very little play. I bought these from Paragon. Has anyone bought welded pipes from another suppler that fit better than these? Bob- Top

Re: Tire to muffler clearance
When I was researching exhaust system it seemed that there was 3 manufactures Corvette Central, Allen, and Gardner. Corvette Central was the best price and they got them out the faster except for the B/O on the hangers. They fit perfectly the alignment was easy. I have a 1970 L-46- Top
