    69 side pipe cover attachment

I've seen 2 types of 69 sidepipe attachment of the rear part of the cover. One uses a bar that screws to the outer edge of the cover and to the frame. The other uses a screw from the cover to a welded bracket on the pipe itself. Was this a running change? One early, one late? Thanks, Tom

Re: 69 side pipe cover attachment

    Hi Tom,
I bought my side exhaust over the counter in 71. The mufflers have the 'tab' you mention welded on them near the exhaust tip, but the hardware that came with the exhaust had the 'bar' you mention. The hole in the 'tab' is aligned with the rear most of the 2 screw holes in the chrome cover.
Your post is the first time I heard the 'tab' mentioned. It'll be interesting to hear what some 69 people have to say!
    Regards,
    Alan
