Fellow members, I publically wanted to thank all NCRS members on this board for their invaluable advice as I completed my long ardious 8 month L-36 re-re engine rebuild. I would not have been able to complete this task without your expertise and invaluable assitance.
Especially, Joe L, John Hinckley, and Duke W, the number of private messages you contributed got me thru some very challenging moments. Thank-you so very much for your knowledge, time and patience with people who do not have anywhere near your skill..........
I went from a 43 yr old tired, org 46,000 mile engine that sat for 10 yrs with dirty oil, dried up valve seals and crusty lifters in a 66 and had no idea how a car of this calibre should perform.
Today, with the best on the market parts including KB pistons, mallory, Engle valve train components and a little over OE duration/lift "Jack Engle" cam grind, my 427 absolutely flies. The sound is deep and rich, she idles nice, runs a little warmer at 180 to 200, and is an absolute pleasure to drive. No more blue smoke, a substantial increase in torque and hp. I had no idea that this is how a 427 should perform. Have 500 glorious miles on the new engine and it keeps getting better. Ofcourse externally, I maintained a 99% factory preservation L-36 display.
Thank-you NCRS for all your assistance from the engine rebuild, front end rebuild and everything in between. This is truly a first class organization.
