By the way, the main case used for the 1978-E79 "Muncie", GM part #3925654 (casting GM #3925656), was exactly the same part as used for the 1968-74 Saginaw 4 speeds (and, also SERVICE for later 1967 Saginaw 4 speeds replacing GM #3915031). Other parts of the 67-74 Saginaw were also exactly the same as the 78-E79 "Muncie".

None of the 67-74 Saginaw transmissions were ever originally installed in a Corvette, though. All of the Saginaw transmissions were used in other Chevrolet models and some Pontiac models, as well.

Matt, my mirror had the opposite problem of being too loose, so I don't think I lubed it. However, i would think some white lithium grease would be appropriate.

Be careful removing the mirror assembly as the bracket from outside of door to mirror "bullet" is soft pot metal. Once that bracket is off, I believe there are screws under it which hold the mirror innards in the bullet housing. It should all pop out pretty simply. The hard part is getting the screws out from inside the door panel to get the mirror off the door.

      Good luck!

Matt, just some suggetions based on my experience with an 82CE with 8000 miles stored for a long time. The first thing that went wrong was the power antenna nylon cable and had to be rebuilt with a kit from Paragon. Then the heater core started blowing vapor on the windshield and leaking into the passenger floorpan. Last was the A/C compressor froze up. Just some things to be aware may go wrong soon with a low mileage sedentary car.
