65 Interior rear quarter panel trim

My 1965 Interior rear quarter panel trim is to be painted white.
My painter said it should be painted flat white. I thought it
should be semi-gloss. Interior is white.
    Who is right.
    thanks
    Bill

According to the PPG Interior color coding, The "Linkage Cover" which I believe is what you are referring to, is a 3 degree gloss, more satin than flat would be one description. The original PPG code was 8620 and is referred to as "low gloss" as opposed to "Full Closs" on areas like the kick panel retainer, and windshield Mouldings (coupe)

      Bill,

interiors had both semi gloss and semi flat. The 1/4 trim panels on convertables along with the strip painted down the body jamb on coupes and convertables is semi gloss to a full gloss.

        William,

My unrestored coupe I would consider a semi gloss to semi flat.

I just looked it up in my copy of the '65 JG and see your dilemma. It does not say anything about color glossiness for the rear quarter trim panels. Going by what I have heard from "experts", it should be unbuffed gloss color, matched to the interior color (white?). It is my understanding that flat color was only used where sun glare through the windshield would cause the driver some problems. -Clark
