    Rear end casing stamping

    I'm looking to buy a rear end casing for my 1963. However, it has the right casting date but no code or build date.

    Does anyone know where I can get this stamped with the correct size letters?

    Also, is this common to have a casing with no stampings?

    Thanks,

    Jerry

    I don't know where to get it stamped with the correct size and font. However, I expect that the carrier had its origins as a SERVICE piece. A SERVICE piece would have no assembly code and date stamping. The same thing is true for SERVICE transmission cases. For that matter, it's true of engine blocks when they start out as a bare SERVICE block or, in many cases, even a partial engine.

      The rear housings are pretty crude and hand stamped with individual 1/4" characters. I can try to get a picture of mine for an example.

        Sorry it took so long to get this done. Busy weekend. You could stamp these yourself. You may already know they aren't judged anyway.

        My stamp Translates

        CE = 4:11 ratio
        6 = June
        10 = 10th day
        63 = 1963

        My car's build date is July 24, 1963

        Good Luck,
        tc
