I am also a fairly new member and am restoring a 57 I bought in 59. It is a total body off restoration and at this point the frame is totally bare waiting for a good day in Oregon I can take it outside and sand blast it and the rest of the parts. So far I have spent about 20K on the restoration. It will be mostly original but some things like the waffle pattern in the upholstery I do not like so I am going to do a tuck and roll. Unfortunately a lot of the numbers do not match so I am doing the car the way I want it such as putting in a Muncie four speed. I am going to keep the three speed that came out of it.
    Good luck - Joe
There are a lot of solid axel and 57 people in Oregon. Where exactly are you located ? The Northwest Chapter is a great center for information.

Here's the Corvette Central "hole repair kit" - comes with ten plates and twenty pop-rivets; their #131125. Plastic drywall anchors also work for non-stressed attachments.

          Hi James -
I brought this Corvette up from southern Cal to Grants Pass in 2003. When I bought it in 59 I didn't know or care about matching numbers. From all appearances it had had a hard life for it's first two years. I repainted it in 1960 and took it on my honeymoon. It has not been run since 1970 and it has been my intention to totally restore it when I retire. I am now retired so this is my latest project. My wife and I joined a Vette club out of Medford with the thought that some of the members might be into restoration. Very few are. They mostly like to cruise. Since it will probably take a year or more to do my Vette, I bought my wife a 2003 Vette to go cruising. Joe from Grants Pass
