'82 Cruise control and inaccurate speedo

I have an '82 Collector's Edition. The speedo is off by 5 miles an hour (it reads faster than I'm going, checked with my truck with wife driving) and the cruise does not work. I have some receipts for prior work done. The cable was replaced 6 years ago. I don't know which one was replaced, it was taken in for the speedo jumping...any ideas where to start?

Mark, maybe the speedo drive or driven gears are the wrong combination, for your car, or possiable the tire size is not as it came from factory.lastly the speedo calibration is off. maybe Joe L. will chime in with the correct gears for the trans, they are color coded gears in transmisson. but he may need more info.
The speed cable will not throw off the speedo. its just the driven mechanism to the speedo.

The transducer for the cruise has went bad in lots of 81-82's. Find a friend with a GPS to check the speed it will give you real time readings.Speedo jumping is one sign of a bad transducer.
