Miles / Kilometers and Tach Revolution Counter

My first question is: When a 1958 was delivered to a dealership in Canada, was that vehicle's speedometer setup to record miles or kilometers? Is this concidered an "export" vehicle? Is there anyway to verify that a vehicle was setup with a kilometer cluster? (Or was an Export vehicle.)
Question two: What is the rule of thumb on ball parking the amount on the Revolution Counter in the tach to the amount of miles or kilometers?
    Thanks

A 1958 del to Canada would have been in MPH, I think the KM speedo started in 1975.

I think the switch was in 1977, I bought a new car in '76 and it was still in miles.
