    Two 1971 Parts...are they available?

Does anyone know if these two (2) parts are available from any supplier out there? (car is a '71 350 4-spd)

    Windshield washer fluid bottle extension neck for 69-72 cars w/o AC (P/N 3976541), and;

The thin sheetmetal bracket that attaches (bolts-on) across the top rear of the radiator core support to confine the top foam seal between the radiator and the core support itself on cars with aluminum radiators (P/N 3963192)?

    Thanks in advance!

NOS GM?...I would be very surprised. But, every now and then something will surface at the big swap meets, and you'll get lucky...if you get there early enough.

Another option on the bracket is a used part (probably not for the bottle). Once you refinish the used part, it will be a perfect replacement since it's identical to the original.

IMO, your two best alternatives are (1) Paragon Reproductions, and (2) Dr. Rebuild.

As far as I know, the 3976541 extension is not reproduced. It was used from 1970-74 and discontinued from SERVICE in July, 1984. You can get a functional replacement from Dr. Rebuild and others but it won't be an exact original configuration piece.

Want an original used piece? Call Pacific Corvette in Puyallup, WA (www.pacvette.com). They'll sell you an original used piece (for 200 bucks).

As far as the radiator support upper rear plate is concerned, it was never available as a separate part from GM. As far as I know, it's not "officially" available in reproduction, either. However, these radiator supports are reproduced by Coffman Corvette in Indiana. You might want to contact them. I expect they'll sell you the plate separately.

Re: Two 1971 Parts...are they available?

        Joe,

Thanks very much for the detailed information. I contacted Coffman Corvette and they didn't have one, but offered to fabricate one if I sent the mutilated (60%) one to them.

Given that, I made a little drawing of the part (with a few small assumptions) and had it made locally...it works fine and looks correct, at least to my eye.

If anyone else out there needs this (3963192), I would be happy to forward my drawing to them.

        Thanks again.

I'm not sure that 3963192 was the part number for this piece, but it's possible that it was. If so, it was once available in SERVICE. Did you find this number on the part, itself?

The part in question could be easily fabricated, as you have done. This part came into use on later 1969 radiator supports; early 1969 did not have it. It continued to be used through at least 1972. Also, the 3963192 part number you mentioned does imply a late 1969 released part, so that "jives" with the time the part came into use.

            Joe,

Part is just a piece of cut or stamped/bent 16 Ga. and did not have any kind of P/N on it, at least on the portion that was still there (why it was cut-up, I have no idea).

            I found the P/N in the 1971 A.I.M., UPC 13, A6; assumed it was correct, but ??

            Thanks again.

Strangely enough, my copy of the 1917 AIM does dot have a UPC 13 section, at all. However, I found it in the 1970 AIM, UPC 11/13. GM #3963192 was, indeed, the part number and it was once available in SERVICE under that part number. Other information I had implied that it was available only as part of the shroud assembly, but that information has proved to be incorrect.
