1957 Clutch Return Spring Lower Bracket

My 57 (#4176 Late May) doesn't have a lower return spring bracket. There is a hole on the outside of the frame that looks as if it could be used for the bottom of the spring. Did the car originally have the bracket or was it a later change?

    Thanks,
    Tom

Tom, if you're talking about the flat rectangular metal plate welded to the frame with a slot cut to retain the spring - it was welded to the frame at St.Louis along with the clutch throw out tower. Possibly converted from a powerglide and to a manual transmission? Gary....
