The 55 vette 265 ci pass side exhaust manifolds/header pipes were cast/formed in such a configuration so as to come extremely close to the #6 and #8 spark plug wires/boots as well as the + battery cable and starter portion of the ignition harness. Dave suggested an insulation be placed over the aforementioned wires. i found a product that works well. Thermo-shield by Cool It/Thermo Tec. The product comes in a roll(god only knows the length--a buddy gave me the remains of his package) and is 1 1/2" wide. ya simply cut to length a piece, remove the paper backing to expose the sticky adhesive side, and then wrap the wires at risk.the manufacturer claims 2000 degrees radiant heat protection. mike

Re: Neat tip courtesy of Dave Ferguson
I did that many years ago because of all the driving we do in our 55.
Mike I just remembered to add this pic. Of the 50's bake-a-light wire ends I used when the original ends get hard and short out for driving , for NCRS I replace them with an other original set.Last edited by Roy B.; September 26, 2009, 05:31 PM.- Top
